Our Background

How It All Began

Hi, I am Lori Condict!

When I was a little girl, I always helped my mom and grandma with making ornaments, and baking goodies.

As a young girl, I used to babysit a lot. I took it very seriously and I even made my very own babysitting kit, complete with puzzles, games, craft supplies, and paint. The kids used to love it when I came over and I too enjoyed spending time teaching them.

In high school, I was always involved in clubs and one activity after another. So, staying busy and being active just came naturally to me!

After I got married, we had six beautiful children and I wanted to make sure their lives were full and active. I tried to ensure that there were always lots of special things for them to do throughout their day.

It came as no surprise when I began working with memory care residents. I guess I was always destined to work with others and to be an Activity Director. And so, God prepared me from the very beginning for this line of work!

Every day, I couldn’t wait to get to work. This was never a job to me; it was a mission and a calling. I was always so excited to see my memory care residents!

I wanted to bring music into their lives, as well as fun and laughter! I wanted to give them activities that made them feel important, cook a special recipe together, share stories of old.

I began to create many respectful, dignified, and purposeful memory programs spanning over the last 20 years! I worked as a Regional Activity Director and East Division IN2L trainer. I am a musician and I am certified as part of the Music and Memory program.  I try to incorporate Music into all of my memory care programs. Additionally, I had a story published in author Debra Shouse’s book, Connecting in the Land of Dementia.

I gave my all to my residents but, actually, they gave so much more to me…they gave me their heart!

What many people don’t understand is there is still so much life to live for those who have Alzheimer’s. Looking into their eyes, making them feel safe, and believing in them is truly what they need.

They have lost a lot in their life: spouse, family, job, car, home, clubs, and church. They just want to be respected and needed, they want to be heard, they want to be around anyone who can understand them and, above all, they just want your heart!
